Amanda Rataj – Wednesday May 18th 2011

NEXT TORONTO MEETING – Wednesday, May 18th, 2011
Amanda Rataj: The Albumen Printing Process.
Amanda is a Toronto-based artist and writer whose practice is concerned with the transitory and ephemeral nature of people & things. Looking to antiquated photographic technology and material processes to articulate these themes, her work explores the boundaries of the photographic print. Albumen prints from the late 1800s are frequently found today at photographic fairs and image and paper shows. In its day, the process consumed more eggs than “Breakfast in America”. Learn more about Amanda by clicking these links to visit Flickr, her blog, or her web site.

Everett Roseborough

LONDON, Ontario. Our editor-emeritus and honorary life member, Everett Roseborough passed away peacefully at 5 pm this afternoon. Ev was editor of our journal Photographic Canadiana from November 1987 through November 1996 during which time he modernized the magazine’s style, tightened up deadlines, and increased original Canadian content. Ev was instrumental in encouraging our current editor, Robert Lansdale, to take over editorship. While his profession was studio photography, his interests were wide reaching and included playing the church organ and investigating the marvels of microscopy. His career spanned the 1930s through the 1990s. He was 98.
