Buyer information

  • Free admission!
  • A BUYER’S PREMIUM of 5% (five percent) will be added to the hammer price on every auctioned item.
  • This is a no reserve auction. All items are to be sold.
  • Payments by CASH or CHEQUE will be accepted for any auction item (NSF cheques will be prosecuted to the full extent the law allows). The PHSC reserves the right to refuse any cheque. Sorry, there is no provision for CREDIT CARD or DEBIT CARD payments.
  • BIDDERS/BUYERS are required to register by completing a Bidder Registration Form and obtaining a Bidder Card.
  • During the auction only bids placed with Bidding Cards will be accepted.
  • All BIDDERS/BUYERS should carefully inspect auction items before the auction begins. All items are FINAL
  • SALE and SOLD AS IS. Neither PHSC or its auction team is responsible for the condition or description of items offered in this auction.
  • Each auction item will be handed to the winning bidder who then assumes full responsibility for the item.
  • Payments may be made at any time during the auction. Items can only be removed from the auction hall after payment has been made.
  • Sellers who intend to bid on items must register as bidders.
  • PHSC auction team members may bid on any auction items.
  • NO PRIVATE TRANSACTIONS ARE PERMITTED PRIOR TO, OR DURING, THE AUCTION.

Seller information

  • Sellers MUST contact the Society to reserve a placement in the auction well before day of the auction. This is because all items must be delivered for vetting and then photographed to be used in marketing the auction. Auction marketing results in more bids and better returns.
  • This is a no reserve auction. Everything must go.
  • Items given as donations to the PHSC may be included among the auction consignment offerings.
  • Lots will be auctioned in a random order, at the discretion of the auctioneer.
  • Acceptable auction items: cameras in all formats, vintage or modern, lenses and accessories, expired film, photographs, image and photo related books, lighting and strobe items, light stands, tripods, photo paper and dry photo chemistry, camera bags and cases, historical photography publications and journals of historical value.
  • Unacceptable auction items: NO commercial film processing items, NO contemporary commercial magazines or periodicals, NO hazardous photo chemicals in liquid form, NO broken glass or sharp metal objects. The PHSC reserves the right to refuse any lot, grouping, or auction item at their discretion.
  • The PHSC assumes no liability for loss or damage however caused. Items are submitted at sellers’ risk.
  • Sellers to receive payment within 30 days of auction date.
  • The PHSC AUCTIONEER’S decision is FINAL in all disputes.
