Alison Skyrme: A Visit to Ryerson

** NEW LOCATION for THIS MONTH **

Alison Skyrme of Ryerson will host PHSC members for the February meeting. The group will meet at 7:30 pm on Wednesday February 17th at the Ryerson Image Centre (in the lobby) located at 33 Gould Street (between Victoria and Bond streets, next to the pond/skating rink). She will meet us there. A representative from the RIC will take us on a tour of the current RIC exhibition (Wendy Snyder MacNeil, Photographs and Films). We’ll have half an hour for the tour and viewing the exhibition (the RIC closes at 8 pm) at which point we will head over the library.

The public is welcome. See above for times and directions.

Alison will take us to the Special Collections area, located on the 4th floor of the Ryerson Library (for anyone who may join us later, please enter the Jorgenson Hall building off Gould street, head to the 2nd floor to enter the library and take the elevator to the 4th floor. Special Collections is on your right as you exit the elevator). Alison will give an introduction to Special Collections. The group can spend time looking at selected items  pulled in advance from Ryerson’s photographic collections.

Space is limited in the Special Collections room, so not everything of interest to the PHSC will be on display. Members can make an appointment to return at a later date. Special Collections is open M-F from 9 to 5. Member can email specialcollections@ryerson.ca or phone 416-979-5000 ext. 4996 to make an appointment.

N.B. Alison is holding a Kodak 3 Autographic camera made/assembled in Toronto at Canadian Kodak Company.
