Toronto. Around the time we entered the 20th century, much of camera manufacture changed from wood to metal.
Cameras were all black or black with chrome or nickel trim (perhaps gloomy by intent to suit the wars and depression of the first half of the 20th century).
Occasionally colour was used in some designs to make the cameras more attractive.
The minicam revolution added emphasis to metal construction and black cameras with or without chrome or nickel trim. Around mid 20th century colour crept into some camera designs once again (there were always colour outliers, of course).
We who grew up in the mid to late 20th century felt mechanical only black or black and chrome trim cameras were the norm. In the later years of the century flash and metering was added along with small batteries and the occasional LCD display.
Our 2026 events have moved smartly along. Next in line is our popular outdoor event held traditionally each July. This year, our Trunk Sale will be on July 12th (rain or shine). And venue has changed. The sale will be held on the grounds of Legion Hall #101 down in southwest Toronto (Long Branch). The address is very familiar to many as Legion Hall #101 is the home of our auctions.
