Toronto, April 9, 2014. I was surprised to read the Globe and Mail news at breakfast this morning (on line, not in the paper, as yet) that the CRA closed its web site due to a bug in the OpenSSL library it uses. Rats! Just when I was ready to do my taxes too! As I read more, the bug and its potential was downright scary.
Tonight, I read about the bug on John Gruber’s site, Daring Fireball, I am a regular reader of Gruber’s blog and followed his link to Bruce Schneier’s blog. Schneier is CTO at Co3 Systems and has been in the security business for over a decade. His blog, Schneier on Security has a link to test for the bug. PHSC appears to be clean. Phew!
