DERECK-DALTON-obit-2-DSC_0399-smToronto. Derek Dalton, a fixture in the Toronto Postcard scene for many years died on June 3, 2015. Derek had participated in our camera fairs and image shows and was a member of the PHSC as late as last year. The following obituary is paraphrased and posted from the Toronto Star:

DALTON, Derek Anthony William – June 23, 1936 Croydon, England – June 3, 2015.

Derek died peacefully with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Sandra for 53 years. Father of Alison Dalton-Osmond, John Dalton and his wife Cris, beloved grandpa of Sarah Osmond. Derek was predeceased by his daughter Janet Dalton, who passed away suddenly April 28, 2014. This broke his heart.

Longtime member and dealer with The Toronto Postcard Club. He was an avid bridge player and a duplicate bridge life master. He loved his animals, his garden and playing scrabble. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and many people he dealt with from his postcard and antique business.

A celebration of Derek’s life was held at Southshore Community Centre, 205 Lakeshore Drive, Barrie, ON L4N 7Y9, on Tuesday, June 9th at 10:30 a.m. Coffee and light lunch  followed. In lieu of flowers, you may make a contribution to a charity of your choice or consider supporting Hospice Simcoe.
