tender times …

Toronto. Old Photo Collectors sometimes divide a collection into sub-groups. One possibility is animals, or birds. In the old plates and films days, it was difficult to capture wild bird photos, making them a bit hard to find.

Today, the speed and versatility of modern digital cameras simplifies the task. For example, at left is a tiny cygnet whose photograph captured the top “Young British Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2026″ award for 18 year old Ben Lucas.

Ben captured this image of a baby mute swan with a Canon APS-C digital camera coupled with a telephoto ZOOM lens. You can read article in the latest issue of Digital Camera World. The article is titled, “18-year-old photographer wins top prize with heartwarming cygnet image – ‘They all lay down for a rest right beside me’“.

The occasional old bird photograph may turn up in one go our 2026 events. Up next is our outdoor event on July 12th – the Trunk Sale. This year the Trunk Sale is on the grounds of the Legion Hall 101 in Long Branch (where we host our auctions). Details and a poster will be pinned to the site in a few weeks.
