Toronto. … as we once chanted as children spotting the tiny little beetle.
In this case it is an opportunity for film fans to try out the 110 films once again. Chloe, down in the Big Apple emailed recently that the little camera is available here in C$ and ships from Toronto.
For the uninformed, 110 film was initially designed and marketed by Kodak in 1972. By that time colour film resolution was fine enough to have Kodak offer this smaller size film plus cheap(ish) cameras to compete with other cameras in the subminiature range.
Most processing was iffish and a probable source of poor resolution prints. (I remember speaking with a Kodak marketing manager who was initially optimistic with the later even smaller size Kodak disk film. Dennis felt they had overcome processing issues, but they did not as independent processing and printing was far too casual at the time.) 110 had died out when 35mm point and shoot cameras became popular. The tiny film was later revived by Lomography – both film and cameras.
As another option, visit one of our events and look for subminiatures. Up next in a few weeks (October 18th) is our fall fair, a great source for all cameras, including the subminiature.
