With the growth of digital, we all must \u00a0have boxes and boxes of old slides and a slide projector or two kicking around the house. In this Kodachome slide, I snapped my youngest daughter \u00a0at a quilt show her mother and I were participating in as merchants back in\u00a0March of 1982.<\/p>\n<p>I took a few colour photos with my Leica, including this whimsical snap of Cher wrapped in a quilt. Today the slides and its siblings rest in my desk. A carousel projector and its trays hold up a stack of stationery in a corner of my den.<\/p>\n<p>George Dunbar sent me an email last Tuesday which had a <em>NY Times<\/em> link to James Barron \u00a0showing his article &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/04\/16\/nyregion\/slides-metropolitan-museum-of-art-materials-for-the-arts.html?action=click&amp;pgtype=Homepage&amp;version=Moth-Visible&amp;moduleDetail=inside-nyt-region-2&amp;module=inside-nyt-region&amp;region=inside-nyt-region&amp;WT.nav=inside-nyt-region&amp;_r=0\">Donated Slides From the Met Get a Second Life<\/a>&#8221; from\u00a0the newspaper&#8217;s <em>Grace Notes<\/em> column. In their case, NYC had a &#8220;<em>Materials for the Arts<\/em>&#8221; program. The program benefitted in free slides from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metmuseum.org\/exhibitions\/listings\/2017\/marisa-merz\"><em>Metropolitan Museum of \u00a0Art<\/em><\/a> \u00a0(The MET). The museum was busy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metmuseum.org\/about-the-met\/office-of-the-director\/digital-department\">converting its donated slide inventory<\/a> into a database via a scanner. Once scanned, the original slides were gladly donated to the project to be reused and viewed once again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toronto.
