My thanks to George Dunbar for <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.ca\/books?id=r0wEAAAAMBAJ&amp;printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&amp;q&amp;f=false\">this link to the November 5, 1945 issue of LIFE magazine<\/a>. The November 5th issue featured a photo essay on the American war photographers with a photograph they took accompanied by\u00a0a small portrait. The essay begins on page 97.<\/p>\n<p>As I browsed the issue, I recognized two things. The products advertised were familiar to me &#8211; some still around, others lost in the mists of childhood. Secondly all the colour images I saw were drawn, while many black and white images \u00a0&#8211; both ads and editorial content &#8211; \u00a0were actual photographs. Today, everything in a magazine is in full colour &#8211; unless black and white is used for emphasis&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toronto.
