PHSC member and friend George Dunbar came across these remarkable <a href=\"https:\/\/brightside.me\/creativity-art\/your-brain-will-never-believe-that-these-arent-photographs-257210\/\">photo-like B&amp;W pencil illustrations<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Paul-cadden-253211208083036\/\">Paul Cadden<\/a> of Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>Before 1839, only paintings or sketches by very talented artists could record your appearance for posterity &#8211; and that took considerable money too! When Daguerre and Fox-Talbot announced their processes that January, it started the world on the way to cheaper accurate renditions of ordinary people culminating in today&#8217;s incredible smart phone digital cameras which automatically adjust focus and light balance leaving little to chance.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Cadden does pencil illustrations so detailed and realistic that they appear at first to be photographs.
