PHSC received an email today from American author, filmmaker and photographer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.darkroom2daylight.com\/#0\">Harvey Wang.<\/a> Harvey will be here at the<a href=\"http:\/\/camerabar.ca\/event\/from-darkroom-to-daylight\/?instance_id=263\"> Stephen Bulger gallery on Saturday, November 21, 2015<\/a> for a screening of his film and a book signing.<\/p>\n<p>Harvey says, &#8220;I just wanted to let you know that I will be screening my film\u00a0<i><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeopro.com\/harveywang\/from-darkroom-to-daylight-2\">FROM DARKROOM TO DAYLIGHT<\/a>\u00a0<\/i>(and signing books) in Toronto at the Stephen Bulger Gallery on Nov 21, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The project\u00a0explores how the dramatic shift from film to digital has affected photographers and their work. I interviewed more than 40 important photographers and prominent figures in the field, including Jerome Liebling, George Tice, Taryn Simon, Charles Harbutt, David Goldblatt, Sally Mann, and Eugene Richards, as well as innovators Steven Sasson, who built the first digital camera while at Kodak, and Thomas Knoll, who along with his brother created Photoshop&#8221;.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Stephen Bulger Gallery in Toronto<\/strong>. Founded in 1994, the Stephen Bulger Gallery has focused on\u00a0the exhibition and sale of international contemporary and historical\u00a0photographs.<\/p>\n<p>The Gallery maintains an inventory of approximately 15,000\u00a0photographs with a special emphasis on works that define the documentary\u00a0tradition as well as historical photographs from Canada. We also maintain a\u00a0bookstore with a title list of over 3,000 books on photography.<\/p>\n<p>The film will be shown at CAMERA a venue within the gallery which hosts free<br \/>\nSaturday afternoon film screenings.<\/p>\n<p>1026 QUEEN STREET WEST<br \/>\nTORONTO ON<br \/>\nM6J 1H6 CANADA<\/p>\n<p><strong>Harvey Wang<\/strong> studied visual arts and anthropology at Purchase College, State University of New York. He has published six books of photography including <em>Harvey Wang\u2019s New York<\/em> (1990) and, with co-author David Isay, <em>Flophouse: Life on the Bowery<\/em> (2000) and <em>Holding On: Dreamers, Visionaries, Eccentrics and Other American Heroes<\/em> (1995).<\/p>\n<p>Wang has exhibited widely at museums, including the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., the New York Historical Society, and the Museum of the City of New York.<\/p>\n<p>He is also an award-winning filmmaker whose work has been screened in film festivals all over the world. He won the prize for Best Documentary Short at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2003 for <em>Milton Rogovin: The Forgotten Ones<\/em>, and his first feature <em>The Last New Yorker<\/em> (2007 with Dominic Chianese, Dick Latessa, Kathleen Chalfant, and Josh Hamilton) was an audience favorite.
