We are sad to report that photographer Harry Joy passed away yesterday at 8 am. Harry was a long time member of the PHSC and resident of Etobicoke. He was born in Winnipeg back in 1917 and at the age of two \u00a0moved to Toronto\u00a0along\u00a0with his family.<\/p>\n<p>Harry is well known for his photographs of the downtown area and especially the Kensington Market area of the 1960s. Over the years, his studio worked with the Toronto Star as well as with many local politicians.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/phsc.ca\/camera\/?p=4305\">His most recent exhibition was held last January<\/a> at the St Lawrence Market gallery along\u00a0with the photos of photographers Doug Hemmy and Andy Brooks. A 97 year old Harry attended the opening event.<\/p>\n<p>Harry&#8217;s black and white photographs are featured in a photo essay prepared for the Photographic Canadiana, issue 40-3, by editor Robert Lansdale. Textual material was provided by Harry&#8217;s son-in-law, Wayne Gilbert, who currently holds\u00a0the membership position in our society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toronto.
