the late Walter Shean<\/p><\/div>\n

Toronto<\/strong>. Walter died on March 3, 2002 at 69 years of age. He was active in the PHSC and a Charter member. The PHSC auctioned his collection for his estate. The late Larry Boccioletti, a founder of the PHSC wrote this obituary for the journal:<\/p>\n

“Charter Member #71 of PHSC, and\u00a0esteemed friend, Walter Shean passed\u00a0away Sunday, March 3, 2002 of heart\u00a0complications. He was 69 and leaves\u00a0his wife Janette, son Gregory, brother\u00a0Boris and step-sons, Dean and Todd McIntosh.<\/p>\n

“Walter was quiet and low key; he\u00a0was well known in collecting circles for\u00a0his eclectic and rare photographic collectibles. In 30 years he had acquired\u00a0such rare items as machine gun cameras and early hand crank cin\u00e9 cameras.<\/p>\n

“Even though it was quite a drive\u00a0from Shelburne where he lived, he regularly attended our monthly meetings\u00a0offering exotic collectibles, and was\u00a0always at all the fairs [tables of collectibles were regulars at the monthly meetings at one time]. Walter retired from teaching film-production at the\u00a0Campbell District Secondary school in\u00a01998.<\/p>\n

“Few were aware that he suffered\u00a0from a ‘tired syndrome’ resulting from\u00a0childhood polio \u2013 it often necessitated\u00a0him to leave meetings early.<\/p>\n

“Donations in Walter\u2019s name can be\u00a0made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation,\u00a0Sunnybrook Hospital, or to the\u00a0Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville.<\/p>\n
