Dr Joe A. Bailey<\/p><\/div>\n

Rochester: December 22, 2013.<\/strong> We\u00a0sadly report the passing of Dr Bailey. I met Joe in May of 1996 when he spoke with us at a Toronto meeting on “Little Known Things about Unknown People \u2013 the history of the 35 mm camera in the USA<\/em>“.<\/p>\n

He wrote many books and articles on his favourite topics. Dr. Bailey was a long time employee of Eastman Kodak and a member of The Photographic Historical Society<\/em><\/a> in Rochester, where he was their newsletter editor for many years.<\/p>\n

We thank Nick Graver of TPHS for bringing his passing to our attention.<\/p>\n

The following brief obituary<\/a> is courtesy of \u00a0The Democrat and Chronicle<\/a>: \u00a0Dr Joe A. Bailey, predeceased by his mother, Jewell Frederick, aunt & uncle, Ray & Pauline Cox. Survived by his wife, Caroline Bailey, cousins, Paula (Ed) Hudson of TX, Linda Asbill of TX; sister-in-law, Cecile Tarantino; also nieces & nephews. Joe served in the US\u00a0Army<\/a>\u00a0received his Doctorate from the Univ. of Texas at Austin, & was an Eastman Kodak Co. (MEC) retiree. A published author of a classic book (“Glass, Brass & Chrome”) on 35mm photography, prolific writer of multiple books & articles; handyman extraordinaire, consummate collector, & fond of all things “Disney”. Joe had a sign in his garage that read, “If we don’t have it, you don’t need it.”<\/p>\n

Please join the family to share memories on THURSDAY from 2-5 PM at Crawford Funeral Home (495 N. Winton Rd., between Browncroft & Humboldt). Funeral Mass FRIDAY at 10 AM at St. Thomas More Church. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
