Toronto<\/strong>. The city of light is featured in issue 26-5 in an article by G\u00fcnter Ott on the AGO exhibit of works by the Parisian photographer Eug\u00e8ne Atget<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While the show described took place about a quarter century ago, it may well be featured once again. Regardless, collectors of old photos should look carefully at Atget’s work before choosing photos by others to add to their collection.<\/p>\n

Mr Ott’s story begins with this pr\u00e9cis. “For nearly 30 years, Eug\u00e8ne Atget (1857 \u2013 1927) worked diligently at his\u00a0life\u2019s work, a precise photographic record of le vieux Paris as it entered the\u00a0modern era.<\/p>\n

“That amazing body of work is the subject of a terrific show currently at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto. Paris Itineraries: The\u00a0Photographs of Eugene Atget<\/em>, (sponsored by Ch\u00e2teau des Charmes Wines)\u00a0runs from February 28 \u2013 May 27, 2001.<\/p>\n

“It comprises 180 albumen silver\u00a0prints taken largely from the collection of the Mus\u00e9e Carnavalet, Paris, and\u00a0produced by the Association Paris-Mus\u00e9es.”<\/p>\n
