In this rare example shown in Bill Belier&#8217;s column in issue 26-4 it is described by its present owner &#8211; Mike Robinson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Bill begins, &#8220;Our &#8216;treasure&#8217; this month is from the\u00a0collection of our multi-talented Program\u00a0Chairman, Mike Robinson, \u2026lecturer,\u00a0contemporary daguerreotypist, wet-plate\u00a0photographer and replica builder of early\u00a0landmark cameras. His story follows\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThe maker of this mahogany and\u00a0brass half-plate camera was a Mr. C.\u00a0Burr, described as a \u2018London optician\u00a0and camera maker, 1862\u20131865\u2019, about\u00a0whom I have uncovered very little\u00a0information to date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;Hopefully, with\u00a0continued research, I will learn more\u00a0about this early British craftsman. The sliding box design is of the\u00a0earliest type of camera construction\u00a0which was used for daguerreotype, wet-plate collodion or calotype paper negatives. This camera is equipped with a\u00a0Petzval design portrait lens with\u00a0Waterhouse stops and a focusing knob.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;The lens (serial #3254) is believed to be\u00a0original equipment as I found no flange markings or additional mounting screw\u00a0holes on the body.\u201d &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Yes, indeed.
