Toronto<\/strong>. \u00a0Around the time when the northern part of British North America established \u00a0itself as the Dominion of Canada (1867), a Toronto photographer, Robert Carswell, created these CdVs which became part of the late Robert Wilson’s collection. Twenty-five years ago, editor Bob Lansdale chose this quartet of CdVs for the cover shot of issue 26-4.<\/p>\n

Inside the issue, Bob describe this cover photograph as follows, “We feature a sample of carte de visite\u00a0portraits from the 1866-70 time period when Canada was just entering its\u00a0Confederation.<\/p>\n

“Like so many others, twenty-eight\u00a0year old Robert Carswell operated a\u00a0photographic enterprise for a short\u00a0while then was removed from the\u00a0listings in photographic history.<\/p>\n

“We tell the story on pages 6 to 8 of\u00a0how ‘A Surprising Find!’ led to the\u00a0discovery of his true success in life.”<\/p>\n
