Toronto<\/strong>. In issue 24-5, we have the review of a book (courtesy of the University at Regina Sask.) – Donnie White’s, “In Search of Geraldine Moodie” published by the Canadian Plains Research Centre, University of Regina, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4S 0A2 in December 1998.<\/p>\n

Bob Lansdale did the review for the journal and begins, “We will surely hear more of\u00a0Geraldine Moodie in the future as her\u00a0importance to Canadian history during the 1880s and \u201890s is brought to\u00a0the fore.<\/p>\n

“Married to an officer of the\u00a0North-West Mounted Police she\u00a0accompanied him on his postings\u00a0throughout Western Canada and the\u00a0Hudson\u2019s Bay district of the Eastern\u00a0Arctic.<\/p>\n

“An ardent painter of Canadian wild flowers she switched to photography, and with maturing prowess\u00a0operated three successive photographic galleries. When the family\u00a0moved she took her camera equipment to record scenery, people,\u00a0events and snippets of western and\u00a0arctic life.<\/p>\n

“Author Donny White explains, \u201cI\u00a0first discovered Geraldine Moodie in the late 1970s\u00a0while working with some wonderful frontier photographs\u2026 Intrigued with the images, I was curious as\u00a0to the photographer whose skill and insight into the\u00a0subject matter was obvious.” …<\/p>\n
