Our erstwhile historian and good friend, George Dunbar, discovered this photo from the <a href=\"https:\/\/library-archives.canada.ca\/eng\">LAC<\/a> in &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/lakereport.ca\/\">The Lake Report<\/a>&#8216; and shared it with us.<\/p>\n<p>It shows the two sides in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/World_War_I\">WW1<\/a> taking a break and celebrating Christmas together. One soldier is taking a photo of friends and the opposition troops.<\/p>\n<p>As George writes, &#8220;This item tells me that we (and soldiers, too) were more civilized 100 years ago\u00a0(from &#8220;The Lake Report,&#8221; a weekly in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niagaraonthelake.com\/\">Niagara-on-the-Lake<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toronto.
