The article, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/mymodernmet.com\/eight-year-longest-exposure-photo\/?fbclid=IwAR1TBtCdbIPKFfaIL0FHJcVrAJUYdLoyN3kT23LA8_pqUq_XTWEoh0QzBZ4\">University Discovers Photo With 8-Year-Long Exposure That Was Taken With a Beer Can<\/a>&#8220;, describes the technique used.<\/p>\n<p>The article begins, &#8220;The London 2012 Summer Olympics had its closing ceremonies in August 2012.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Just one week after the athletes dispersed, a masters student in fine arts began a project at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.herts.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University of Hertfordshire<\/a> in the UK. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nxt-creatives.eu\/artists\/regina-valkenborgh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Regina Valkenborgh<\/a> crafted a pinhole camera out of an aluminum beer can, duct tape, and light-sensitive photographic paper.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Affixed facing skyward on the side of the university&#8217;s Bayfordbury Observatory, the camera was forgotten\u2014weathering the elements for eight years and one month. David Campbell\u2014the observatory&#8217;s Principal Technical officer\u2014finally got around to removing the camera this fall.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Inside, he discovered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.herts.ac.uk\/about-us\/media-centre\/news\/2020\/longest-known-exposure-photograph-ever-captured-using-a-beer-can\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">longest-exposure image<\/a> ever captured, showing eight years&#8217; worth of solar paths across the sky.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>My thanks and a tip of the hat to good friend and fellow PHSC member Russ Forfar deep in the snow and woods of Central Ontario.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toronto.
