A very common expression is, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/writingexplained.org\/idiom-dictionary\/imitation-is-the-sincerest-form-of-flattery\">imitation is the sincerest form of flattery<\/a>&#8220;. And all the makers of high end cameras had it in spades! Manufactures in Russia, Japan, and even fellow German firms aped the design of the Leica, Contax, Rollei, and even the Sweden&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hasselblad.com\">Hasselblad<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a way, such imitation was helpful to the amateur photographer giving some consistency to cameras and offering lower cost alternatives. To me, the closest copy of a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hasselblad\">Hasselblad<\/a> was the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bronica\">Zenza Bronica<\/a>. The imitations of the Rollei, Leica and Contax are legion &#8211; so much so many people collect these imitations. A rare version\/model always attracts fakes as well.<\/p>\n<p>The lens on the Hasselblad in \u00a0the above photo is remarkably like the Leica lenses of the 1970s and later, especially in markings and outer material.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toronto.
