A year ago this past spring, <a href=\"http:\/\/phsc.ca\/camera\/?p=8549\">I did a post on the unusual lenses of Monsieur Pierre Angenieux of Paris<\/a>. Surprisingly, this Paris, France optical company is still in business. The company was founded in 1935 by M. Angenieux.<\/p>\n<p>Angenieux was born in the summer of 1907, a few months before my own father. He went on to create wide angle lenses for SLRs, Zoom lenses, and cinema\/video lenses. A few years before his death in 1998, Angenieux sold his company to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thalesgroup.com\/en\">Thales Group<\/a>. The company became <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thalesgroup.com\/en\/worldwide\/case-study\/angenieux-focus\">Thales Angenieux<\/a> and since 2013 has sponsored the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pierre_Ang\u00e9nieux_Excellens_in_Cinematography\">Pierre Angenieux Excellens in Cinematography<\/a> each year at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.festival-cannes.com\/en\/\">Cannes<\/a> to pay tribute to a Prominent Director of Photography.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toronto.
