As we enter into a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-43512098\">tariff war<\/a> once again, there is growing concern we will plunge into another massive depression. It is worth thinking about the last <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Great_Depression\">great depression<\/a> world wide (the dirty 30s), culminating in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/World_War_II\">second world war<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some American photographers were commissioned by their government (FSA) to record the sad impact the depression had forcing many families to migrate west in what ever way possible.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/international\">Guardian<\/a> in the UK commemorates these photographers with its column entitled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/artanddesign\/2018\/jul\/24\/a-vision-shared-book-review-great-depression-photographers\"><em>A Vision Shared: the photographers who captured the Great Depression<\/em><\/a>&#8220;. The photo at left is an outtake of <a href=\"http:\/\/phsc.ca\/camera\/?p=5772\">Dorthea Lange<\/a>&#8216;s definitive photo taken at the same time in Nipomo, California. The column&#8217;s title and content is based on the\u00a040th anniversary reissue of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Vision-Shared-Portrait-America-1935-1943\/dp\/3958291813\">Hank O\u2019Neal\u2019s 1976 book<\/a> of the same name.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toronto.
