NEXT TORONTO MEETING: Wednesday, March 20th, 2013
A Tour of The D.K. (Doc) Seaman Hockey Resource Centre.

bannerLogoOur March meeting WILL NOT BE AT THE MEMORIAL HALL VENUE. Instead, we have a tour of the D.K. (Doc) Seaman Hockey Resource Centre which is inside The MasterCard Centre For Hockey Excellence at 400 Kipling in the west end at New Toronto Street.

The tour will be hosted by avid hockey fan and centre manager Craig Campbell. It begins at 7:00pm sharp. There is free parking and wheelchair access at the centre.  A Tom Hortons is just up the road. The tour focus will be on photography’s role within the sport. The tour will also cover the centre’s vast collection of print material, souvenirs, gear, trophies, and hockey sticks. Click here or on the icon to visit the Hockey Resource Centre website.

The public is welcome. Take the Bloor-Danforth Subway west to Kipling, and then take the number 44 Kipling South bus down to New Toronto Street which is right across from the centre.

CandENpp9-14iss91-8Washington, DC. February 25, 2013. John Morden found this interesting cover story in volume 91, issue 8 of the Chemical and Engineering News. The article titled “Saving Endangered Photographs” by Sarah Evert discusses how technology has uncovered both fraudulent images and how to identify and save the many delicate historic images.

Just click on the icon at left or on the above link to read this fascinating article. (Did you know about 150 different photographic processes have been invented since 1822? I didn’t!)
