Toronto. PHSC member and speaker Maia Sutnik narrates this brief video of an AGO exhibit of Polish life recorded quietly in the Jewish Ghetto at Lodz in Poland in 1940 and 1941 by photographer Henryk Ross. Ross was forced by the Nazi regime to record life in the Ghetto in those dark days of the second World War. At left are the papers of Henryk Ross.
Maia is the Curator of Photography at the AGO. She has a fine eye for many interesting photographs and related memorabilia. This brief video appeared on the web site of the Globe and Mail and is well worth watching (before you head for the AGO, of course).
